What I Do
Several steps are involved in the making of baskets. First I must gather my materials. If I use natural materials I process the materials to get them ready for weaving. I may have to split bark, dry grasses, or dye the materials. After I have all the materials ready I decide on the baskets that I will make. After weaving the basket I finsh the rims, braid the handles, and add any embellishments. My final step is to dip the entire basket in a dye bath that will give the basket an antique look.
I have spent 25 years learning and perfecting my craft. I am always thinking of new baskets to add to my collection. Lately, I have been painting on my baskets and on the wooden bottoms of my baskets.
I will cheerfully attempt any special order that you may wish. Since I dye my own materials any basket can be made using colors you prefer.
